Early life

Glenn Close was born as the girl child of Bettine and William Taliafferro Close. The latter was a doctor by profession who worked in Belgian Congo and owned a clinic. Glenn Close was a well known personality ever since her father provided personal medical services to President Mobutu Sese Seko. What’s more, her ancestors were well known personalities. This can be very well confirmed from the fact that her grandfather who was named Edward Bennett Close was a stockbroker and served as a director to the American Hospital Association. Edward’s initial marriage took place with Marjorie Merriweather Post. So, Glenn Close can consider herself a relative of Preston Sturges and Dina Merrill, the former being a screenwriter/director and the latter being an actress. Glenn Close is also a relative to Brooke shields whose grandmother Mary Elsie Moore was ant of Close herself.

Glenn close herself associates her early days of life with her acting skills. This was revealed by Close during a speech on February 19, 2009. At the mere age of seven, her parents could not resist joining a religious group called Moral Re-Armament. This was not taken up well by her family and that her family did not find it easy to go along with this kind of a culture. Glenn Close also studied at a boarding school in Wallingford, Connecticut which was known as Rosemary Hall. When Close reached the age of 22, she discontinued her relations with a singing group called “Up with People” which she had joined in the mid 1960’s. This was all because of the fact that Close wanted to join college.

Career

Well, her career kicked off way back in 1966 and that too as a model. She worked as a model during her childhood along with an agent called Eileen Ford. Eileen has also mentioned about Shields and that she began her child’s separation just for shields.

Damages

As far as Damages is concerned, she began to act for the show in 2007. She can boast of an Emmy Award for Damages in the best Actress category in a drama series in 2008-09. Damages also got her a Golden Globe Award for the best actress category in Television Drama series. She is a nominee for the Best actress award for both the Golden globe and the screen actors Guild Awards in 2010.

Personal Life

Close got married in the year 2006, with her boyfriend David Evans Shaw whom she knew from long time back. This was after she formerly married Cabot Wade and James Marlas. She is gifted with a girl child. She’s very fond of dogs and has even written a blog for fetchdog.com.
